A DARLINGTON shop could be the location of a redevelopment to the existing property above it.
Currently the property, which is on Barningham Street in Darlington, is split into a house of multiple occupancy with 11 bedrooms on the first floor.
The proposed development could see this property split into seven flats within the structure of the existing property.
The proposed upper flats in the attic of the property could have dormer windows, overlooking the Church and Community Hall.
A new set of stairs could be constructed for access to the first floor with the existing rear stairs being retained as an emergency escape exit.
All of the windows on the building could be replaced and the windows to the rear of the building could be increased in size.
The building has seen various proposed redevelopments, such as the change of use from HMO to one house and two apartments in 2005, and in 1978 a planning application was submitted for the change of use from a butchers shop to a home-made sweet shop.
