A COUPLE have welcomed their second lockdown baby, with the help of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

Rachel Taylor and Scott Gretton, from Seaton Carew, made headlines last March when Scott came up with a novel way of proposing to Rachel – he had ‘Mammy will you marry my Daddy?’ embroidered onto their new born baby Oscar’s grow suit.

Scott was aided in his secret plan by midwives on the delivery suite who distracted Rachel while Oscar was put into his special grow suit.

The pandemic has put the couple’s marriage plans on hold but this week, Rachel and Scott welcomed their second lockdown baby to the world.

The as-yet unnamed baby boy made his appearance on Wednesday, February 24, weighing in at 7lb 11oz. To make the arrival extra special, he was born on Rachel and Scott’s anniversary as a couple.

Scott, 33, who owns a construction company, said: “Massive thank you again to the maternity team at North Tees for all the care and support. We can’t thank them enough for being so supportive throughout.

“It was a two hour labour, with only two paracetamol because she is actual superwoman. Twenty minutes in the delivery suite and he was here with us, screaming the place down. Big cuddles with his Mam and he was content.

“No proposal this time but a lot of the staff remembered us and we couldn’t have been more welcomed.

“Thank you, from a man with a healthy fiancée and two very healthy boys.”

Beauty-business owner Rachel, 32, and Scott plan to marry on New Year’s Eve 2022 with the Covid-19 pandemic hopefully a long distant memory.
