THERE have been a further 482 positive tests for Covid-19 in the North-East and North Yorkshire.

Nationally, the Government said a further 323 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday, bringing the UK total to 122,070.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 142,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Thursday, there had been a further 9,985 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

It brings the total to 4,154,562.

Government data up to February 24 shows that of the 18,911,978 jabs given in the UK so far, 18,691,835 were first doses – a rise of 448,962 on the previous day.

Some 700,718 were second doses, an increase of 31,613 on figures released the previous day.

NHS England data shows, in the North East and Yorkshire, 2,467,886 have received their first jab, and 91,168 have had their second dose making 2,559,054 in total.
