A FRAUDSTER has admitted fleecing a number of businesses out of thousands of pounds by returning dodgy goods.
Marouane Saddaoui travelled up from London with his co-accused Mohammed Sabeg to use a bank card which was fraudulently used to process refunds to the total of £6,777.80.
The incidents are reported to have taken place in small independent businesses including flower shops, butchers, dry cleaners and pharmacies on December 16 last year.
Saddaoui, of Hazel House, Camden, pleaded guilty to eight charges of fraud by false representation when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court.
Sabeg, of Saint Dunston's Close. Hayes, pleaded guilty to the same charges at an earlier appearance at Teesside Magistrates' Court.
The basis for both defendants' guilty pleas were rejected by the Crown Prosecution Service and a Newton hearing to determine the facts will now be heard on March 10.
