North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue reported a number of crews attended a large blaze in a pig unit at Moor Lane, Newsham, near Richmond last night.
The pig unit measuring 60 metres by 60 metres is understood to have been destroyed in the blaze and a large number of pigs killed.
The fire service said they were called to the unit at 18.32 on February 14, they used hose reel jets, dams and ground monitors to fight the fire. They added: "The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. This incident is open for a revisit."
