A RAPIST who attacked a young woman in her own home has been jailed for nine years.
Alexander Borisov-Eales, of Chelsea Grove in Newcastle was found guilty of rape and sexual assault after a trial at Durham Crown Court.
Alongside his prison sentence, the 31-year-old was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
In December 2019, Borisov-Eales met a woman in her mid-20s at a Newcastle bar and took a taxi back to her home in Stanley, County Durham.
But once inside her home, he carried out an attack in which he raped and sexually assaulted his victim.
As soon as the chance presented itself, his bruised victim ran outside and locked him in, before raising the alarm with a neighbour.
Police were called and Borisov-Eales was arrested at the scene.
Detective inspector Chris Woollett, of West Durham CID, said: “The victim has shown great bravery throughout and provided us with the evidence we needed to build a case and secure a conviction.
“It has been a traumatic time for her, but now she has seen her attacker brought to justice.
“Hopefully, his prison sentence will give him the time to reflect on what he has done.”
