THE region is set to be battered by heavy rain as Storm Christoph makes its way to the UK bringing with it risk of flooding, gales and even snow.

Parts of the North-East and North Yorkshire are set to see heavy rain, with poor conditions already reported in some areas.

We've put together an hour by hour forecast, based on latest data from The Met Office, to help show how the storm may affect you.

The Met Office earlier this week issued a yellow weather warning for the whole region, warning against heavy rain starting from today.

It said flooding of homes and businesses is likely, bus and train services could be disrupted and surface water could hamper the region's roads.

Here's a snapshot of the forecast where you are:

Darlington

In Darlington, heavy rain is expected right through to this evening with a short break at around 9pm. 

It looks as though temperatures won't exactly plummet to the wintry conditions we had last week with figures averaging out at 9 degrees.

County Durham

The forecast for County Durham generally shows there is a high chance of rain starting this afternoon, right through to around 7pm.

We've looked at the forecast for Newton Aycliffe, Bishop Auckland, Durham City, Barnard Castle and Seaham to see that each area will only see slight changes.

Hartlepool and Teesside

This is the forecast for Hartlepool and Teesside as heavy rain is likely to continue right through the night with precipitation at 90 per cent.

As with County Durham, we've looked at the forecast for the main areas on Teesside to see only slight changes are forecast.

Richmondshire, North Yorkshire

In Richmondshire, there is a 90 per cent precipitation of heavy rain affecting the area throughout this evening.

Conditions may ease up at 8pm before yet another downpour in parts of the district.

Hambleton, North Yorkshire

Across Hambleton, the forecast seems to remain fairly similar to what is expected in Northallerton.

With heavy rain gradually expected, the area will likely see spells as the evening continues.
