THE following cases were heard at Peterlee and Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Courts in the last week.

MARK DAVID CHRISTOPHER DIXON, 44, of Denton Court, Newcastle, was ordered to pay £50 compensation after he stole two Fitbits from 02, in Durham, on December 31, 2019. Dixon pleaded guilty.

PAUL GUIVER, 41, was discharged conditionally for 12 months after he stole two bottles of Southern Comfort whiskey and one bottle of Chivas Regal whiskey from a shop, in Kent, on April 6, 2020. The Eighth Street, Horden resident, pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay £57 compensation.

GEORGE LEVI PRICE, 19, was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months after he assaulted a woman by beating her. The Coundon Grange, Bishop Auckland resident, pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay £128 to fund victim services.

SCOTT PHILIP HURMAN, of Esk Road, Darlington, was handed a community order after he was caught in possession of zopiclone – a class C drug – on September 11, 2020. The 41-year-old indicated a plea of guilt and the drugs were confiscated.

RICKY LEE BEADLE, 32, of Collingwood Street, Coundon, was given a community order after he drove a car whilst over the legal drink drive limit on December 26, 2020. Beadle pleaded guilty and was disqualified from driving for 18 months. He was also ordered to pay £95 to fund victim services and £85 court costs.

CHRISTINE GARGETT, 48, was fined £576 and disqualified from driving for 18 months after she was caught behind the wheel whilst over the legal drink drive limit on November 2, 2020.  The Eryholme, Darlington resident, pleaded guilty and was made to pay a £58 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

DAVID JAMES MCGEE, 26, of Langdale Place, Newton Aycliffe, was discharged conditionally for six months after he pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place on November 4, 2020. McGee was also ordered to pay £22 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

RICHARD MARK THACKER, of Wylam Avenue, Darlington, drove a car whilst banned from driving on October 30, 2020. Thacker, 41, pleaded guilty and was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £120. He was also ordered to pay £34 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

WAYNE ANDREW DURHAM, 32, was ordered to pay £200 compensation after he damaged a car wing mirror on October 1, 2020, with intent to destroy or damage.  The Dumfries Street, Darlington resident, pleaded guilty.

JOHN ALEXANDER SMITH, 43, of Viola Crescent, Sacriston, was fined £120 after he was caught in possession of a taser on July 30, 2020 at Chester-le-Street. He indicated a plea of guilt and was ordered to pay £34 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

RICHARD JONES, from Consett, was handed a community order after he assaulted three police officers on June 13, 2020, at Consett. The 37-year-old  changed his plea to guilty and was made to pay £100 compensation. Jones, of Durham Road, was also charged £100 by the Crown Prosecution Service.

ABBIE DOUGLAS, 20, of James Street South, Murton, was discharged conditionally for six months after she assaulted two police officers on October 19, 2020. She was made to pay £50 compensation.

STEVEN WALLACE was fined £40 after he resisted a police officer in the execution of his duty on December 1, 2020, in his hometown of Stanley. The 39-year-old pleaded guilty and was made to pay £34 to fund victim services. Wallace, of Argyle Street, was ordered to pay £40 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

ROBERT ASKEW, 34, of Wood View, Esh Winning, was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months after he assaulted a police officer on January 11, 2021. Askew indicated a plea of guilt and was ordered to pay £100 compensation.

DIONNE BOBBY ANNE DICAPRIO, 37, was fined £100 when she failed to comply with a community requirement or a suspended sentence order made by Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on June 23, 2020 and July 20, 2020. The Neville Court, Washington resident, admitted the breach.

JAKE LEE KAY, 18, of West Terrace, Crook, was discharged conditionally for 12 months after he damaged a photography shop window, on May 2, 2020, with intent to damage or destroy. He also was ordered to pay £22 to fund victim services.

RYAN JOHN LANCASTER, 25, of Rydal Road, Ferryhill, assaulted a man causing actual bodily harm on February 2, 2019. He was given an 18-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. Lancaster was also ordered to pay £500 compensation and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

JACK CATTERMOLE, 32, was given a community order after he was caught behind the wheel on November 14, 2020, despite being banned from driving. The Alston Walk, Peterlee resident, pleaded guilty and was disqualified from driving for six months and handed a community order.

LIAM MURRAY, 29, of Stanley Way, Crook, was convicted of driving whilst under the influence of cannabis on June 11, 2020. Murray was given a community order and ordered to pay £95 to fund victim services. He was also disqualified from driving for 15 months.
