THERE have been a further 1,711 coronavirus confirmed cases in the North East and North Yorkshire in the last 24-hours.
The Government said a further 1,243 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of today (Tuesday), which brings the UK total to 81,960.
Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 99,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.
The Government also said that, as of 9am on Tuesday, there had been a further 45,533 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.
It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 3,118,518.
The number of people in the UK to have been given a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine as of today (Tuesday) is more than 2.4 million, according to Government figures, up from almost 2.3 million on Monday.
Some 84,187 first doses have been given in Northern Ireland, on top of the 2,080,280 in England, 91,239 in Wales and 175,942 in Scotland, to give a UK total of 2,431,648.
So far, 412,167 second doses have been administered in the UK, including 393,925 in England, 97 in Wales, 15,288 in Northern Ireland and 2,857 in Scotland.
In Northern Ireland there was a day-on-day rise of 6,182 first doses and 1,339 second doses.
