THE North-East's mass vaccination centre has opened its doors - with frontline workers among the first in the region to get the Covid vaccine.

Scores of nurses, doctors, pharmacists and other NHS staff are being vaccinated at the Centre for Life in Newcastle, along with social care and care home workers.

It is one of seven mass vaccination centres that have opened across England as part of the drive to rollout the jab.

Pictures taken on Monday showed the scene both, inside and out, as thousands queued to get vaccinated.
