THERE have been more than 2,000 further positive coronavirus tests in the North-East and North Yorkshire.
The Government said there have been a further 55,892 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.
And a further 964 people have died within 28 days of a positive test.
Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 89,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.
Here is a break down of cases in the North East and North Yorkshire:
Darlington – 4,425 was 4,336 – an increase of 89
County Durham – 24,326 was 23,928 – an increase of 398
Hartlepool – 5,471 was 5,366 – an increase of 105
Middlesbrough – 7,094 was 6,950– an increase of 144
Redcar and Cleveland – 5,475 was 5,406 – an increase of 69
Stockton – 9,544 was 9,436 – an increase of 108
North Yorkshire – 17,516 was 17,172– an increase of 344
York – 7,241was 7,039– an increase of 202
Newcastle – 17,650 was 17,550 – an increase of 100
North Tyneside – 8,209 was 8,149 – an increase of 60
South Tyneside – 7,691 was 7,560 – an increase of 131
Sunderland – 13,570 was 13,325 – an increase of 245
Northumberland – 11,310 was 11,127 – an increase of 183
Gateshead – 9,347 was 9,238 – an increase of 109
