AN INDEPENDENT furniture retailer raised nearly £1,000 for a local Teesside charity after its "Movember" fundraising efforts.
Barker and Stonehouse in Teesside raised £910 for Teesside charity the Salvation Project, by volunteering to grow moustaches for the month of November.
The funds will be used to purchase food and essential items to make Christmas hampers, which will be distributed to families who need extra support this winter.
The Salvation Project is a local non-profit group set up to support those in the local community in and around the Thornaby area.
Jan Davis, founder of The Salvation Project, said: "The amount raised from the 'Movember' initiative by the Barker and Stonehouse team will make a huge difference to our Christmas hamper project.
"We don't receive any grants, so donations such as these are incredibly important for a small charity such as ourselves and all the more meaningful when they are generated through local acts of kindness."
