STUNNING shots of the Yorkshire Dales have been unveiled this week in a new exhibition to to coincide with the end of the second national lockdown.

The Yorkshire Dales Amateur Photography Exhibition 2020, showing at Tennants in Leyburn, features work by the finalists in a photography competition which ran throughout this year.

The competition was organised by The Garden Rooms at Tennants and the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT) charity which seeks to preserve and enhance the Dales.

It showcases photographs taken across the region by talented amateur photographers.

From iconic stone wall landscapes to the wildlife and farm animals that are a vital part of rural life, the exhibition celebrates the best of the Dales.

Many of the photographs were taken during the first lockdown, and they encapsulate what makes the Dales so special to so many people.

Alison Tennant, director of The Garden Rooms at Tennants said she was looking forward to sharing the images with visitors.

She said: “There are some exceptionally talented amateur photographers in the Yorkshire Dales, and we look forward sharing their creativity with our visitors.”

The exhibition features images from the 35-finalists selected to compete for first place in the photography competition and visitors will be able to vote for the overall winning entry.

The victorious photographer will receive a prize of photographic vouchers worth £100 and hamper full of Yorkshire Dales goodies.

They will also be included in the official Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust 2022 Calendar.

Judges will also pick their 12 favourite photographs for inclusion in the calendar.

The exhibition is free to enter and open seven days a week.
