POLICE have confirmed that a body found yesterday is that of missing man Wayne Newton.
Mr Newton, 41, had been missing from Middlesbrough for more than a month.
His body was found in a wooded area near Baldoon Sands, in Acklam, on Saturday.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Police can now confirm that a body found in a wooded area near to Baldoon Sands in Acklam yesterday (Saturday 28th November), is that of missing 41-year-old Wayne Newton.
"Wayne’s family have been informed and they are being supported by specially trained officers.
"Our thoughts remain with Wayne’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
"Officers are not treating the death as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Mr Newton had been missing since Saturday, October 24. Extensive searches had been undertaken in the Middlesbrough area.
