Calling all year 11 students! Did you know you can apply to New College Durham now to start studying in September 2021? Get ahead of the game and sort out your next step at the college’s School Leavers’ Virtual Open Day.  

On Saturday 21 November, between 10am and 1pm, year 11 students and their parents/ carers can join the college online to discover the range of amazing opportunities on offer.  You can speak to tutors about courses, get the inside view on college life from current students and explore the fantastic facilities on a virtual tour of the college campus. If you’re not sure what you want to do next, the Advice, Support, Careers team are on hand to offer impartial careers advice. Once you’ve found your perfect course you can apply straight away.

The college has a wide range of courses to help you achieve your career goals. Vocational courses are ideal if you enjoy practical learning.  From drama to design, cookery to computers and beauty to brickwork there are loads of subjects to choose from. Whatever course you take, you’ll train in environments that replicate real life and use tools and equipment you would find in the workplace.

The sixth form centre at New College is a great alternative if you want to study A-levels. You’ll get the same high quality training and student support you would at a school but with the added benefits of a wider range of subjects, more independence and use of the college’s first class facilities.

Does earning money while learning on the job and getting a recognised qualification sound good? If you know what career you want and feel ready to go into the workplace, then an apprenticeship could be your perfect way forward. New College offers over 70 different apprenticeship pathways and work with over 350 employers.

The exciting new T-Level qualifications are also available at New College Durham. They have been developed with employers to meet the needs of industry and offer students a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience through an extended industry placement.
