MORE than 1,600 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the North-East and North Yorkshire.
And a further 14 people have died with coronavirus in the region’s hospitals.
According to the figures, released by the NHS England on Sunday, three more people have died at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, four people at Gateshead hospitals, one person at Newcastle hospitals and two people at York Teaching Hospital.
On Saturday, there were 18 reported deaths at the region’s hospitals.
The Government has said 194 more people have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19.
It brings the UK total to 49,238.
As of 9am on Sunday, there had been a further 21,350 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.
It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 1,213,363.

County Durham: 14,260 was 14,004 – an increase of 256
Darlington: 2,425 was 2,379 - an increase of 46
Gateshead: 6,065 was 5,964 – an increase of 101
Hartlepool: 2,758 was 2,710 – an increase of 48
Middlesbrough: 4,237 was 4,129 – an increase of 108
Newcastle: 10,152 was 10,006 – an increase of 146
North Tyneside: 4,972 was 4,874 – an increase of 98
North Yorkshire: 10,150 was 9,901 – an increase of 249
Northumberland: 6,324 was 6,188 – an increase of 136
Redcar and Cleveland: 3,221 was 3,134 – an increase of 87
South Tyneside: 4,280 was 4,205 – an increase of 75
Stockton: 5,633 was 5,541 – an increase of 92
Sunderland: 8,604 was 8,457 – an increase of 147 York: 4,193 was 4,152 – an increase of 41. Total increase: 1,630
