DESPITE the recent challenges we’ve all been facing, one school in Co Durham has been celebrating excellent Year 11 results that have moved their students on to the next stage of their journey through life.

The Durham Federation, at Ushaw Moor, wanted to highlight the hard work and outstanding efforts of the students, to ensure that their achievements weren’t overshadowed by the struggles that everyone has had to endure this year.

Reflecting on last year’s cohort, Deputy Headteacher, Alison Jamieson, says: “We are extremely proud of our Year 11 results, and the successes of many of our young people.

“We believe in excellence in education, and inclusion for all, and whatever talent, skills and abilities each student has, we strive to bring out the best in them.”

Celebrating their individual success are a number of young people who have flourished within the school’s ethos: Wherever you start and wherever you want to go, we will get you there.

“This is only a small selection of success stories from this year, with other students going on to complete 'T' Levels in engineering at New College Durham, Equine Studies in Edinburgh, join the Armed forces, and much more," says Alison.

“These young people show what can be achieved when the school and students work together within a broad curriculum, to fulfill potential,” says Alison.
