A FURTHER 1,147 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the North-East and North Yorkshire.
The Government said that, as of 9am on Thursday, there had been a further 20,530 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.
It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 830,998.
A further 224 people have also died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19, as of Friday. This brings the UK total to 44,571.
Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have now been 59,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Middlesbrough: 3,023 was 2,924 an increase of 99
Newcastle: 7,780 was 7,642 an increase of 138
North Tyneside: 3,409 was 3,311 an increase of 98
North Yorkshire: 6,619 was 6,463 an increase of 156
Northumberland: 4,626 was 4,535 an increase of 91
Redcar and Cleveland: 2,117 was 2,052 an increase of 65
South Tyneside: 3,257 was 3,192 an increase of 65
Stockton: 3,733 was 3,574 an increase of 159
Sunderland: 6,276 was 6,149 an increase of 127
York: 3,191was 3,072 an increase of 119
