STOCKTON Neighbourhood Officers worked alongside Trading Standards and Licencing from Stockton Borough Council yesterday by retail premises throughout Stockton who are selling fireworks.
It is illegal to set off or throw fireworks - including sparklers - in the street or other public places.
Fines can be issued of up to £5,000 or you can be imprisoned for up to six months for using fireworks illegally.
You could also get an on-the-spot fine of £90.
You must be over 18 to purchase fireworks and only buy those with CE mark.

Police have thanked all the shops who engaged with officers and partner agencies yesterday.
