A CLEVELAND Police officer has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.
The officer, who has not been identified by the force, has also been suspended from his role while the investigation is carried out.
A force spokesman said: “We can confirm that a police officer has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and has been suspended.
"Suspension is a neutral act. An investigation is ongoing and it would not be appropriate to say more at this time.”
An Independent Office for Police Conduct spokesperson said: "We received a referral from Cleveland Police and decided the force should carry out an investigation into the allegations under the direction of the Independent Office for Police Conduct.”
