A MAN was left unconscious in the street after being attacked and robbed of his wallet.

A Durham Police said the incident is believed to have happened in North Road, Durham, at around 8pm on Thursday.

The victim was knocked to the ground and assaulted before having his wallet stolen.

A man and a woman were arrested on the night in connection with the incident but have since been released under investigation. Temporary Detective Sergeant, Sarah Hindmarsh, of Durham Police said: “This was shocking crime that occurred on one of Durham’s busiest streets and left the victim unconscious outside the bus station.

“Thankfully the gentleman has now recovered but we are eager to trace more witnesses or anyone with information so we can bring the perpetrators to justice.”
