A FURTHER 1,337 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the North-East and North Yorkshire in the last 24 hours.
The Government said that, as of 9am on Saturday, there had been a further 15,166 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.
It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 590,844.
The Government also said a further 81 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Saturday.
This brings the UK total to 42,760.
Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have now been 58,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Darlington: 1,145 was 1,097, an increase of 48
Gateshead: 3,010 was 2,937, an increase of 73
Hartlepool: 1,324 was 1,294, an increase of 30
Middlesbrough: 2,075 was 2,018, an increase of 57
Newcastle: 5,782 was 5,607, an increase of 175
North Tyneside: 2,492 was 2,415, an increase of 77
North Yorkshire: 4,859 was 4,753, an increase of 106
Northumberland: 3,580 was 3,494, an increase of 86
Redcar and Cleveland: 1,337 was 1,298, an increase of 39
South Tyneside: 2,555 was 2,484, an increase of 71
Stockton: 2,240 was 2,147, an increase of 93
Sunderland: 4,561 was 4,441, an increase of 120
York: 1,964 was 1,884, an increase of 80
