A FURTHER 843 people have tested positive for Covid in the North-East and North Yorkshire.

A further 44 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 29,962, NHS England said on Tuesday. Patients were aged between 47 and 99 and all had known underlying health conditions. The deaths were between September 23 and September 28.

The Government said that as of 9am on Tuesday, there had been a further 7,143 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK, taking the overall number of cases confirmed to 446,156.

In the North-East and North Yorkshire: County Durham: 4,735 was 4640, an increase of 95. Darlington: 807 was 785, an increase of 22. Gateshead: 2,196 was 2,142, an increase of 54. Hartlepool: 935 was 908, an increase of 27. Middlesbrough: 1,471 was 1,434, an increase of 37. Newcastle: 3,317 was 3,148, an increase of 169. North Tyneside: 1,630 was 1,573, an increase of 57. North Yorkshire: 3,699 was 3,630, an increase of 69. Northumberland: 2,576 was 2496, an increase of 80. Redcar and Cleveland: 961 was 944, an increase of 17. South Tyneside:1,847 was 1,792, an increase of 55. Stockton-on-Tees: 1,426 was 1,381, an increase of 45. Sunderland: 3,196 was 3,098, an increase of 98. York: 1,272 was 1,254 , an increase of 18.
