FIREFIGHTERS were called out to extinguish a chimney fire in Crook on Thursday.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service closed the town's High Hope Street, while dealing with the incidnt.
A spokeperson for the service said: "We were called to deal with a chimney fire in High Hope Street, Crook, at 12.20pm.
"An aerial ladder platform from Durham and an appliance from Crook attended the incident.
"Fortunately the occupants were all safe."
The road was reopened at about 2pm.
