A19 closed at Mandale Interchange
EMERGENCY services have closed the A19 southbound from the Tees flyover with residents living nearby advised to keep their windows closed after reports of a noxious smell.
Cleveland Police said the road has been closed from the flyover to the Mandale Interchange.
A statement from the force said: "There is a road spillage and motorists and residents have reported a strong smell.
"As we work with partners to investigate we advise residents in Acklam, Whinney Banks and West Lane to keep doors and windows shut. "This is a temporary precaution and we will update as soon as possible. We continue to advise motorists to find an alternative route."
