PUPILS in a year group at a Darlington school have been told to self-isolate after a positive covid test.
Haughton Academy has confirmed a positive case of the coronavirus and has told pupils in year 11 to self-isolate for 14 days.
All other year groups have been told to continue to attend school as usual.
A letter has been written to parents and carers of children in all years groups to keep them informed.
In a letter to parents, headteacher Jonathan Lumb said: “We have carried out a full risk assessment and unfortunately, we have been advised by Public Health England that the whole year group will have to self-isolate for 14 days.
“Other members of your household, including other children, can continue normal activities provided your child does not develop symptoms within the self-isolation period.
“If your child is well at the end of the period of self-isolation, they may return to usual activities and return to school on Wednesday 7 October 2020.”
A pupil in year nine at the Education Village school tested positive for the virus on September 16.
