FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a blaze at a Darlington home today.

Two engines were sent to deal with the fire in the garage and ground floor kitchen of a house on Coniscliffe Road late this afternoon.

A spokeswoman from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue service confirmed that they received the emergency call at 4.32pm today.

One engine from Darlington and one from Bishop Auckland were sent to the scene and the firefighters used two hose reels to put the fire out.

Four sets of breathing apparatus were used by the crew as they battled the blaze.

There were no casualties reported.
