A SECONDARY school in Darlington is closing to one of its year groups this afternoon following a confirmed case of Covid-19.
Longfield Academy, in Darlington, is sending Year 8 pupils home today and they have been told to self-isolate until Monday, September 28.
The school has been working with various authorities before making the decision to send pupils home.
Headteacher Nick Lindsay said: “We have carried out a full risk assessment and taken advice from Public Health England regarding the course of action and the precautions we need to take.

“On this basis we have been advised that Year 8 pupils are required to stay at home and self-isolate until Monday, September 28; when they will be expected to return to school.”

Years 7, 9, 10 and 11 will continue to attend the school. Parents were being informed of the decision this afternoon.
