THE hospitality industry was one of the hardest hit when lockdown was imposed back in March – and although the Chancellor’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme in August helped businesses get back on their feet, trading is yet to return to pre-Covid levels.

That’s why today, The Northern Echo is launching a new competition to support our region’s brilliant restaurants, bars, and cafés.

We want you to nominate your favourite venues which took part in the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme in August. We’ll publish the top 20 – and then it will be over to you for a vote to see which one will be crowned The Northern Echo’s Eat Out champion.

The Northern Echo:

Editor Hannah Chapman said: “Rishi Sunak’s discount meals scheme was a great boost for the hospitality trade, and it was good to see so many customers making full use of it, while venues worked hard to be Covid-safe.

“We want to throw the spotlight on the many fabulous businesses who took part, and celebrate the best of our region’s food and drink industry.

“Please get in touch and tell us all about your favourite venue.”
