A DARLINGTON soft play area has closed after a customer tested positive for Covid-19.

The Roarsome Soft Play and Party Centre on the Morton Trade Park said the premises will now undergo a deep clean.

On social media, the soft play centre said the customer had been on the site during a session on Friday, September 4 at 10am.

Bosses said: "This evening we received a phone call that every business dreads, A customer has tested positive for Covid.

"We have contacted everyone who was in on the same session (Friday 4th September at 10am) - We have been unable to speak to a couple of people so please contact us and we will phone you back.

"We have had no confirmation from Test and Trace that we need to do anything but feel that we best make people aware."

"The risks to anyone who has not had face to face contact with the gentleman is minimal but to be safe we have decided to close tomorrow (Tuesday 8th September) for a deep clean."

The firm also said it was asking all staff, who were present on the shift, to take two weeks off or seek a Covid-19 test before returning to work.

The firm said: "This is purely precautionary - none of our staff are showing any symptoms whatsoever.

"We understand that customers may be concerned and ask that you give us time to answer any questions. We are not in a position to answer anything medically based."

Advising customers with tickets for today (September 8) that they will be refunded in full, the firm said it was suspending ticket sales until it reopens.

"Please bare with us during this period and we will open again as soon as possible.

"We would kindly ask that people do not call the centre tomorrow unless absolutely necessary, please send us a message through our facebook page or website and we will get back to you as soon as possible. This will allow us to get sorted as soon as possible," the firm added.
