A MAN has been arrested after a quantity of drugs and weapons were discovered at a property in Hartlepool.

Cleveland Police carried out raids at two properties in the town yesterday.

Two rifles and suspected drugs were found by officers in the houses in Kendal Road, along with suspected class C and class B drugs.

A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and possessing a firearm without a certificate. 

Investigations are ongoing. 

The raids were carried out as part of Operation Phoenix, Cleveland Police's summer-long bid to  improve public service, prioritise vulnerability, tackle serious violence and prevent crime.
