A WOMAN had to go to hospital with a serious back injury after being knocked over by a dog in a park on Tuesday.
The woman was in Burn Valley Gardens, in Hartlepool, at about 3pm when a lurcher type dog tried to attack her dog.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "In the process of trying to separate them, the lady was knocked over by the out-of-control dog and was taken to North Tees General Hospital with a serious back injury."
Police are appealing for information about the incident.
The dog is described as "sandy" coloured and was with a couple, who had a child in a pram.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting 117870.
