A FURTHER person has died in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus in the North-East.

The County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust recorded one further Covid-19 death since figures were last reported.

Latest figures published on Wednesday afternoon confirmed a total of 1,733 people have now died in hospitals across the North-East and Yorkshire

A further 42 people died after testing positive for Covid-19 in hospitals across England.

A spokesperson for NHS England said: "A further 42 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 28,969*

"Patients were aged between 22 and 100 years old.   Six patients, aged between 60 and 94, had no known underlying health conditions. Their families have been informed."

Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 116 no change

York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 214 no change

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust - 81 no change

Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (mental health) – 7 no change

Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (mental health) – 7 no change
