WITH the Government announcing the reopening of pubs on Saturday, here is how some of the premises in Newton Aycliffe will be operating to keep staff and customers as safe as possible.

The pubs that are opening with restrictions in place are:

The Northern Echo:

The Roundhouse Sports and Lounge bar will be opening July 4 at 10:30am.

Government guidelines will be in place and must be followed at all times.

Sanitising stations are positioned around the venue so feel free to use at any time.

With an in-out operating system, with no standing or sitting around the bar at any time and card payments preferred.

Most tables seat four but some reduced due to the social distancing rules, customers are reminded not to move furniture.

The Northern Echo:

Gretna Green pub will open for bookings from July 6.

The Northern Echo:

The Turbinia will be opening Saturday July 4 12 noon with normal hours seven days a week.

Screens fitted at all service areas a one-way system in operation

Two hand sanitiser stations in the bar and no standing and sitting at the bar with one metre a part.

Antibacterial soap in the toilets and the function room is strictly two metres and no live entertainment.

The Cobblers, is preparing to reopen on July 4 at 12pm

Seating has been reduced and the pub will be doing table bookings only at this time for inside and in the beer garden, first come first-served basis.

The pub won’t be serving food at first but will reintroduce a reduced menu of ‘pub favourites’ soon.

The pub will not be taking bookings on social media or by phone at this time.

When booking your table, you will need to give your name, telephone details and party size (maximum number of people per group is eight indoors and six outdoor) and the time of your visit. Booking will be done in time slots of 2 hours, but you can book more than one slot for your visit.

The Huntsman is re-opening Saturday, July 4.

The pub is taking bookings for food but drink is first come first served. They will be not accepting walk-ins for food but drink is okay. With full contact details been taken for each customer to comply with the track and trace measures.

The Bay Horse, Middridge will reopen July 4 at 12pm.

There will be a one-way system coming from the back entrance and then going out the front.

Bookings can be made via 01325 312653 and by Facebook until July 4.

The pub is still operating a takeaway service.

The Royal Telegraph will open on Saturday however they are fully booked

Sunday they are open from 12 -10pm and will allow walk-ins however no more than four people in a group. Hand sanitising station and signs on the floor will help social distancing.

The pub will be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but back open on Thursday and Friday.

Vicki Craggs the landlady said: “We had a lot of messages from regulars who wanted to come so they have a placed booked on Saturday, this will also give us chance to see how things work in the pub. I will be taking it week by week and keeping things low key.”

The Phoenix club will not be opening on Saturday but plans to open in the coming weeks with strict rules on movement and vaping. More details can be found on their Facebook page.
