A MAN was left unconscious with major head injuries after being assaulted.
It happened at about 11.30pm on Saturday in High Street West, Redcar.
Police say the 35-year-old victim was found unconscious with major head and facial injuries.
It is it believed he was assaulted by unknown persons.
He received treatment at James Cook University Hospital for a fractured skull, fractured eye socket and other facial injuries.
He has since been released.
A police spokesperson said: "Officers believe there was a party going on nearby on High Street West and would ask anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police."
