RESIDENTS plagued by fly-tipping on their street have discussed the regular "misery" it causes.

A resident of Aldam Street, who wished to remain anonymous, complained that fly-tipping had become a regular occurrence in the back alleys, with the council removing rubbish left behind only to have it replaced by more the next day.

"It's never-ending, the council come to remove discarded mattresses, hoovers. cushions and stools, but it isn't long before more furniture ends up being dumped in the same place again," said the resident.

"Recently they've been doing it right outside our backdoor, and propping it against our walls."

In a fly-tipping incident last year, food was amongst the rubbish discarded amongst the household waste down the alleyway.

"It was at the height of summer and we weren't able to leave our door and window open because of all the flies which were coming into the house, it's completely disgusting. It made our life a misery."

The resident has pleaded to the council to put up CCTV around the alleyway in order to catch those illegally fly-tipping.

"Something has to be done. It's a nice neighbourhood but it's being treat like a dumping ground," said the resident.

"We all pay our council tax, and we just want to live in a clean environment."
