A 21-year-old student, decided to record her own songs and share them on social media during the coronavirus lockdown.

Abbie Lince, who lives in Redcar has recorded two songs whilst not being able to see family and friends, and has shared them on her Facebook page Abbie Lince Acoustic.

Abbie said: “I’ve been singing probably all of my life. My family are quite into music and my brother is a professional musician.”

As well as singing, Abbie also plays guitar.

The Northern Echo:

Before the lockdown Abbie was studying English at the University of Sunderland.

Abbie’s first song is called Lost a Part of Me, it is about her mum who died three years ago in 2017 from breast cancer.

Abbie said: “The song is about losing someone.”

On her Facebook page Abbie said: “So after a lot of deliberation (with myself) I have finally bit the bullet and decided to record one of my own songs for you all!

“This one is called Lost a Part of Me, and it’s probably the most personal song to me that I have written so I chose it to be the first one I will put on here (it may also be the last).

“There’s honestly something so nerve racking about sharing your own music with people, there’s only a hand full of people who have ever even heard any of my originals and it’s thanks to Tricia Wood telling me to ‘get it done woman’ that I’ve decided to do it now.

“It’s also thanks to all the inspiration I’ve been getting off of all the talented musicians around Teesside who are putting their own music out there it’s really unbelievable!

“Anyway I’m sorry for the ramble but I hope you enjoy it and I really hope it resonates with people in some way, thanks for listening everyone and I hope you’re all keeping safe and well.”

The second song called Better If We’re Apart is about the lockdown.

“It’s about keeping hope,” Abbie said.

Speaking about the second song, Abbie said on Facebook: “I wanted to say again a massive thank you for the amazing response to the song I posted last week, I was so nervous about doing it and the kind comments and shares honestly were overwhelming so thank you!

“I wanted to share another new one this week, before Boris makes his statement.

“This one I’ve written over the past few weeks while being in lock down and not being able to see friends and family, I know it’s been tough on everyone.

“Someone asked me the first place I’ll be going when all this is over and that’s where the inspiration for this song came from.

“It’s called ‘Better if We’re Apart’ and I hope you enjoy it and hopefully I will be meeting you all at the bar in the not so distance future.

“I hope you’re all keeping safe and well.”

The songs can be listened to by searching for Abbie’s Facebook page – Abbie Lince Acoustic.

Abbie and her family have also organised several fundraisers for Teesside Hospice before the lockdown was put in place.

Abbie’s dad walked coast to coast and her boyfriend did a head shave.

Abbie said: “I’m going to look at organising something in the future.”
