Two arrested after reports of suspicious pair trying car doors
TWO people have been arrested by police who were called to a village after a man and woman were seen trying car doors.
At around 8am yesterday morning, Durham Constabulary received a call reporting that a man and woman were trying door handles on a number of cars in a street in Newfield, Pelton, near Chester-le-Street.
Officers attended the area and located a man and woman.
A force spokesperson said: "They matched the description passed to police, were stop searched, and subsequently arrested.
"An investigation is ongoing in connection with the incident.
