FIREFIGHTERS are contining to tackle a blaze on Eston Hills near Middlesbrough.
Cleveland Fire Brigade has described the wildfires as deliberate acts and issued a plea to members of the public to help tackle the recurring problem.
A spokesperson said: "Wildfires destroy countryside and wildlife, they divert us from more important calls, life-threatening calls and tie up resources during this pandemic.
"Hot weather and school holidays has a massive impact on resources anyway in terms of the amount of fires and incidents.
"We are doing our bit and really want the community to do there bit.
"To parents, do you know where your children are?
"We ask people doing their daily exercise, not to smoke, if they see a fire call 999 and if they take litter up there take your litter home, glass expecially."
He said flytipping has also been a problem in the area and said if there is evidence of flytipping or arson the culprits will be prosecuted.
Any incidents of arson should be reported to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
