A TRAVEL firm want to reward a frontline nurse for with a slap-up trip on a luxury train - but only know her first name.

Stephanie was nominated twice as “a caring human being” in a national competition run by the Northern Belle, Britain’s equivalent of the iconic Orient Express with its 1930s-style Pullman carriages hauled by a vintage locomotive.

But train company bosses don’t have her surname and only know that she works in the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

The Northern Echo:

Northern Belle managing director Jeanette Snape said: “Everybody in the country is full of admiration for how our NHS and care workers have worked over recent weeks.

“So to show that we were on the side of the angels we thought it would be nice to reward some of them with a free trip on our train.

“We asked people on our Facebook page to name somebody they knew who had gone that extra mile during the pandemic.

“Two people nominated Stephanie at the Royal Victoria Infirmary but neither knew her surname or had any contact details for her.

“We would love her to be table to take a trip on out train with a companion so we hope your paper will be able to help track her down.”

One person nominating Stephanie said of her: “She’s cared for my poorly niece who was born 15 weeks early. Steph is the one that truly went above and beyond.

“She’s at the Newcastle RVI working on NICU. It’s filled my heart knowing that baby and mum and dad have been looked after throughout and I cannot express enough my gratitude for all of the teams.”

The other said: “I’d like to nominate Steph (don't have a surname but apparently she's the only Steph) on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - Ward 35 at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.

“Steph went that extra mile to help, support and empathise with my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter at a scary time.

"As a mother, I'd love to treat this lady I've never met for looking after my family, not just in her nursing role, but as a caring human being where I couldn't be.”

Anyone who may know Stephanie, should email beth.cooper@northernbelle.co.uk.
