A MAN has been charged with the murder of a Stockton dad who died after being found seriously injured in a BMW.
James Stokoe, died on Friday after being assaulted and found with seriously injuries in a silver vehicle in Trenchard Avenue, Thornaby.
Emergency services attended at about 2.20pm but the 40-year-old died at the scene.
On Saturday, a man was arrested and tonight has been charged with murder.
The 33-year-old is due to appear at at Teesside Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
He has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
Mr Stokoe's family have paid tribute to him as a “much loved husband father, son and son-in-law” and as a “treasured friend”.
They added: “James was a wonderfully kind and gentle person. There are no words to express our sadness.”
Meanwhile, wellwishers have raised almost £5,000 today in an online fundraiser started by friend Zoe Wilkinson.
