POLICE are looking for a hit-and-run driver who knocked a cyclist off his bike.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said the male cyclist was left with a possible leg injury after the collision on Whitehorn Crescent, Cowgate, Newcastle, at 2.20pm on Saturday.

The spokesperson said: "It was reported that a blue 4x4 car collided with a male cyclist, who was then knocked off his bike.

"The car has failed to stop and has left the scene. The cyclist was left with a possible leg injury as a result of the incident.

"An investigation has been launched to trace those responsible, and detectives are now eager to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
