A NEW digital directory aimed at supporting Tees Valley businesses during the coronavirus pandemic is proving to be a big hit.

More than 500 businesses have now signed up to the handy website, connecting customers with the wealth of great businesses across the Tees Valley.

Buy Local Tees Valley was launched by the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority, to showcase businesses and local tradespeople that are still operating across the region during these unprecedented times.

And it has quickly proven to be a highly effective way for members of the Tees Valley business community to promote themselves, as well as a quick and easy way for customers to find businesses that meet their needs.

The site covers a huge range of businesses and services, including record shops in Darlington and car and van hire in Stockton-on-Tees, to family butchers in Hartlepool, chartered surveyors in Middlesbrough, tyres and exhaust specialists in Redcar and Cleveland, and many more.

The main categories on the site are accommodation, food suppliers, transport, property services, professional services, and retail.

The Northern Echo:

With the number of businesses exceeding the 500 mark in just a few weeks, the site has everything from micro businesses – such as stallholders at Darlington’s historic Victorian covered market – to larger firms operating in town centers.

The platform is just one of the initiatives unveiled by the Mayor and Combined Authority to support businesses and the self-employed. These have included the 24/7 Tees Valley Business Support Hotline for companies seeking advice as the coronavirus crisis continues.

The Buy Local website makes it quick and easy for local people to find out about the wealth of quality business across the area covered by the five local authorities making up the Tees Valley: Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees and Redcar and Cleveland.

It is also straightforward for businesses to register and get listed. Simply go to www.buylocal.teesvalley-ca.gov.uk
