A MAN has been arrested after dozens of suspected stolen power tools, bicycles, drugs and air rifles were seized by police.

A 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods after officers carried out a warrant at Littlebeck Farm, in Hurworth Moor, near Darlington.

Officers visited the farm on Tuesday, where they discovered the tools, along with several bikes, generators, a lazy spa filter and extendable ladders, which are also believed to be stolen.

A quantity of drugs and air rifles were also seized by officers.

A 49-year-old man was arrested and has been released under investigation.

On Tuesday, Detective Sergeant John Tyers, from Darlington CID, said: “This was a proactive operation which we carried out as a result of intelligence gathered by officers.

“We believe these items may have been stolen from properties in the surrounding area, and we’d like to hear from anyone who recognises the items.

“I hope today’s action shows that, despite the current pandemic, officers are still working hard to tackle criminality and bring offenders to justice.”

A Durham Constabulary spokeswoman said: “As a result of yesterday’s appeal, we have had a number of people contact us to say they believe some of the property is theirs. They are visiting the police station today to identify it.

“However, there are still many items that are still to be identified, so we would urge anyone who recognises any of the property to call us on 101, and ask to speak to Darlington CID.”
