WITH traditional open evenings postponed during lockdown a Durham college has found a new way to get information across to potential students.

New College Durham is making good use of technology to create its first ever virtual Information, Advice and Guidance Open Event.

On Tuesday 5 May between 4.30pm-6.30pm, prospective students will be able to connect with the college via telephone, live chat and the website.

From the comfort of their own home, visitors can chat on a one-to one basis with course tutors, find out about the college’s wide range of courses, get impartial careers and funding advice from the Advice, Support and Careers team and enjoy virtual tours of the college’s outstanding facilities.

The event is open to all prospective students with advice available on full-time vocational courses, A-Levels, apprenticeships, the new T-Level qualification and degree level programmes.

For those who want to secure their place at the college, the application process has been adapted so it can be completed remotely in three easy steps. Application gurus will be available via live chat to answers any questions and help with the application process.

To register for the event, or to apply for a course, go to www.newdur.ac.uk.

Dawn Fairlamb, Vice Principal at New College Durham, said: “This is always an important time of year for school, college and sixth form leavers who are considering their next step.

"During the current restrictions, we want to reassure both school leavers and their parents and carers that we are continuing to offer our usual high levels of support.

"If you are considering upskilling, retraining or returning to education, this event is the perfect opportunity to find out more about the courses we offer. "Our virtual open event will ensure that prospective students have all the information they need to progress to the course that is right for them.”
