FIVE karate students from Houghton-le-Spring have gained black belt status.
The martial arts experts gained their 1st Dan black belts (Shodan) at a grading ceremony held in Alnwick, overseen by Sensei Andy Sherry and Sensei Bob Poynton.
Steven Wilson, Greg Bunea, Sophie Nepali, Natalie Keegan and Jack Reay, ten train at least three times a week, in Houghtonle- Spring sports complex.
Their club meets on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
