HILTON is in talks with the NHS about accommodating health service staff at Stockton’s Hampton by Hilton hotel.

The hotel, on Church Road, which is owned by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, has closed to guests in line with Government restrictions due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Hilton is one of a number of hotel chains now involved in national discussions about hotels accommodating NHS workers.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council Leader, Councillor Bob Cook, said: “There are all sorts of reasons for NHS staff needing accommodation at this difficult time.

"They may have travelled here from other parts of the country or they may need to stay away from vulnerable family members.

"Or, they may have worked a very long shift and not have time to travel home.

“Hotels are well-placed to help and I’m pleased to see that Hilton are part of these national discussions.”
