SHOPKEEPERS are being warned after a woman used a fake £50 in North Yorkshire.

Police in Northallerton issued a warning after reports were made of a woman using £50 to buy goods worth £5.35 in the town on Saturday.

The note was checked with the currency pen and passed the test.

However, on cashing up a closer examination of the note identified the note did not have any foil markings on the note.

Police said the woman was described as having blond hair and as of Irish origin.

A spokesperson for the team said: "Please be aware and report any suspicious activity."
