THE Northern Echo has launched a weekly feature in which we present a bouquet of flowers to an individual or group going the extra mile in their community. The recipient of this week’s bouquet of the week is Dr Sally Stone, who works at Orchard Court Surgery in Darlington.

Why do they deserve this gift?

Dr Stone was nominated by Ms Casey Wilkinson, who said that she always feels instantly lifted, no matter the circumstance when she enters Dr Stone's office.

She has always appreciated that when she visits Orchard Court Surgery, she always feels as though she is treated always like a individual, and not simply another number waiting to be seen.

Dr Stone has always been conscious of Ms Wilkinson's wellbeing, and does not solely focus on her patients illness or ailment, but rather takes time to ask about the person themselves.

Although usually a very private person, Ms Wilkinson said that it feels great to be able to trust her doctor completely.

What is the most deserving thing they have done?

Dr Stone was there for Ms Casey after she received the life changing news that she had been diagnosed with cervical cancer at 25 years-old.

Ms Casey said that when she received the 'life changing' news, she was called by Dr Stone who wanted to let her know she would have support through the surgery. She was touched by this action.

Describe them in three words

Dr Stone is genuine & great support.
