FIGURES released for cases of confirmed coronavirus in England show that parts of the North-East remain untouched by the virus.

Public Health England have revealed figures that show how many people are affected in each part of England.

As of 5pm March 9, a total of 321 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the UK. Four patients who tested positive for the virus have sadly died so far.

Over 25,000people have been tested across the country.

The information showed that as of 9am on Sunday March 8 there were 0 confirmed cases in Darlington, East Riding of Yorkshire, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees.

Both York and Newcastle currently has 3 confirmed cases.

Internationally, China still remains the country with the highest cases with 80,739 patients confirmed to have the virus and 3,120 deaths.

South Korea has the second largest number of cases of coronavirus with figures at 7,478 and 53 deaths.

Italy has the highest number of cases in Europe at 7,375 and 366 deaths.
